Students Taking Action for Respect (S.T.A.R.)

Texas Peace Project

(Formerly Students Taking Action for Respect [S.T.A.R.])

The Texas Peace Project is a comprehensive program that was created by the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA) in response to the problem of teenage sexual violence. Participants train, practice, and present awareness, positive youth development and prevention programming on sexual harassment and sexual assault to their peers in schools and community groups. During the summer, students and their sponsors attend a state conference where they participate in train-the-trainer classes and learn the Texas Peace Program curriculum. The curriculum includes information on sexual harassment, dating violence, acquaintance rape, club/date rape drugs, youth leadership, and program development.
